Morocco Travel:
The Top 10 Natural Wonders of Morocco
Part 2
Immouzer des Ida-Outanane
|
One of the most unbelieavble places, Immouzer deep in the mountains |
Would you ever
associate Morocco with high, wild cliffs and multiple waterfalls falling from aforementioned
cliffs into a lovely lake? Neither would I. But this is the reality of Immouzer
de Ida Outanane, which gives home of the Ida Outanane Berber tribe. The area is
part of the Western slopes of Atlas and although the waterfalls are affected by
dryness and a local dam, you can always see at least one waterfall and the
lovely lake where all the water arrives. If you visit around December-January
when there is rain throughout all Morocco, you have an even bigger chance to
catch this waterfall –complex showing its outstanding beauty.
There are
several beautiful trekking and hiking routes around the waterfall area and even
if you don’t want to trek the place, there are several beautiful walking treks
too, where everything is extremely picturesque, packed with the cliffs, gorges,
valleys, and rivers. Check out the walking path starting from Hotel Cascades,
that goes along a lovely water channel and offers an unforgettably beautiful
experience ( until you can walk, then you will need to actually climb so stay
alert). If you prefer more safety, walk along the 4 km long paved road which
offers an equally beautiful experience.
As for its flora
and fauna the area is rich in date palms, olive - and Argan trees which may
also give it lots of interest as Argan, today being part of lots of top brands’
hair oils only grows in Morocco. Coming here in the summer offers a great
escape from the general heat, that’s why it’s very popular among visitors. The
area of Immouzer is also known for its high quality honey. The place also gives
home to a very unique bird wildlife, therefore it welcomes birdwatchers from
all across the world. Next to the waterfalls, the village of Immouzer des Ida
Outanane also offers several manmade attractions to the visitors.
Immouzer is located around 80 km from Agadir
and it’s in fact a 20 km long trek from the nearby lying Paradise Valley, so
there are plenty of people who check out both natural attractions in one visit.
Bus tours offer a daily ride here, you can also hire a guide but, before doing
that make sure that your guide is really trustworthy and always negotiate the
price well in advance.
